Getting started

Set up a Vanta community from the beginning, connect the services you actually use, and finish with a permissions check before handing the dashboard to staff.

Before you start

You should be the owner or an administrator of the Discord community you are connecting. If you are connecting ER:LC, make sure you are authorised to manage that private server.

Set up Vanta step by step

Sign in

Open Vanta and sign in with the account you intend to use for administration.

Create or open your dashboard

From the dashboard area, create a dashboard for the community or open an existing one you have access to. Check the server name and branding before continuing.

Connect Discord

Run the Discord setup flow and select the community you want Vanta to manage. Confirm that the Vanta bot is present and can access the resources required by the features you plan to enable.

Connect ER:LC if you use it

Open the ER:LC setup section and enter the Server Key for the private server you are authorised to manage. Complete the connection check before moving on.

Authorise remote management

If your server uses supported remote management actions, complete the Authorize Vanta step shown after the ER:LC connection succeeds.

Set up access

Open Roles and Permissions and decide who should have dashboard access. Start with a small group of trusted administrators, then add staff access as you finish testing.

Configure your features

Set up applications, staff, departments, sessions, moderation, logs, verification, whitelists, and other features only when your community is ready to use them.

Test as a normal staff member

Use a test account or trusted staff member to confirm that the permissions you created allow the intended actions and block everything else.

Recommended setup order

  1. Discord connection and bot permissions.
  2. Dashboard access and roles.
  3. ER:LC connection and remote authorisation.
  4. Staff and departments.
  5. Applications and verification.
  6. Sessions, moderation, and logs.
  7. Optional access controls and discovery settings.
